This past October, five of our Professional Dance Division students competed in the Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Awards' Ballet category in which they performed two different classical ballet variation solos in front of a panel of judges. We are proud to announce that three of our students made it to the Semi-Final round:
Jordan Hammond, Karen Johnson and Steven Morse
Only sixteen dancers were chosen to advance to the Semi-Final round of the Ballet category in which students from across Southern California attended one of 12 auditions at various locations, including San Diego, Irvine, Riverside, Los Angeles, Pasadena, Torrance, Santa Barbara, Agoura and Van Nuys.
The Music Center Spotlight Awards program is in its 20th year and is a nationally-acclaimed recognition and scholarship program for Southern California high school performing and visual artists. At the Ballet category's Semi-Finals, the judges will choose just two dancers for the Finals in which the dancers will participate in special performance along with other performing arts finalists on April 26 at the Los Angeles Music Center.
The Maple Conservatory would like to thank the following faculty members who helped our students prepare for this wonderful opportunity: Gilma Bustillo, Alicia Head, Charles Maple, Chris Martin and Shawn Stevens.
The Maple Conservatory is proud of all of its Spotlight Awards participants and we wish Jordan, Karen and Steven the best of luck at the Spotlight Awards' Semi-Final ballet competition!
