Before I began to choreograph Cinderella, I looked at tradition and non-traditional versions of the ballet and noted the elements I enjoyed and those that I found to be missing. I then pieced together a synopsis of the ballet for Maple Youth Ballet based on those thoughts.

Nutcracker was not a rip-roaring success at its premiere in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1892. The art critic Konstantin Skalkovsky wrote in 1899, "Generally speaking, The Nutcracker was staged mainly for children; for the dancers it contains very little; for art — exactly nothing. Even its music was rather weak. As the dance writer Anatole Chujoy pointed out later on, the Nutcracker ballet remained in the Russian repertory for over 37 years! However, even today, audiences in Russia as well as in Europe are less excited than their American counterparts about The Nutcracker.

Maple Conservatory of Dance Master Class Series presents New York City Ballet’s Darci Kistler, Katrina Killian and Sheryl Ware. All children ages 4-10 and their families are invited to come dressed in their best attire and have some fun at The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Our guests at the event will enjoy yummy treats, crafts, photos with Alice, The Mad Hatter and The White Rabbit plus performance excerpts from by Maple Youth Ballet’s upcoming production of Alice in Wonderland.
Tickets for The Mad Hatter’s Tea are only $20 per person.
Special Honored Guest, Ms. Misty Copeland, Soloist with American Ballet Theatre
On Sunday, March 8, 2015, the Maple Youth Ballet will present our fourth annual Spring Gala. Hosted at the Wyndham Avenue of the Arts Hotel in Irvine, the Gala will feature a selection of heavy hors d’oeuvres, silent auction and raffle drawing, and a special performance by the Maple Youth Ballet dancers. We are thrilled to announce this year’s special honored guest, Ms. Misty Copeland, soloist with American Ballet Theatre. Guests will have the opportunity to meet this incredibly talented artist, and enjoy an interview conducted by her former ballet instructor, Mr. Charles Maple.
We invite community members to donate an item or experience to the Silent Auction or Raffle. Every dollar raised will help Maple Youth Ballet further its mission, and to provide scholarships to talented students who could not otherwise afford this opportunity. We anticipate over 200 guests will attend the Gala, and all donors will be recognized and celebrated. We appreciate your support and hope you will join us in helping keep the arts alive for our children and within our community.

The Maple Conservatory of Dance offers two summer intensive age-specific programs for male & female intermediate & advanced-level dancers.
Both summer programs will be taught by notable guest teachers and our world-class faculty using the same curriculum and teaching methods which have established the Maple Conservatory of Dance as the premier training ground in Southern California.
*Participation in the Senior Ballet Intensive requires a commitment of at least two weeks.
