Nutcracker was not a rip-roaring success at its premiere in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1892. The art critic Konstantin Skalkovsky wrote in 1899, "Generally speaking, The Nutcracker was staged mainly for children; for the dancers it contains very little; for art — exactly nothing. What an amazing fall we have already had in the conservatory. There is a great energy in all of our conservatory classes and in the expansion of our open class program here at the Maple Conservatory of Dance. Presenting the Ultimate Nutcracker Experience for Families & Children!

As guests of the Maple Youth Ballet’s The Nutcracker, your family’s enchanting journey to the “Palace of the Sweets” will begin with a visit to Clara’s Tutu Tent for a host of fun activities for the kids, which will take place one hour before each performance and during intermission. You and your family will also be able to enjoy our delectable desserts and unique boutique offerings on sale during intermission.

On-Stage Children’s Workshop After Saturday’s 2pm Performance: Children ages 4-10 are invited to free, fun-filled dance workshop led by Maple Conservatory’s Pili Doheny. This 20-minute workshop will be held following our Saturday 2pm performance. Ms. Doheny will lead the children through some ballet stretches and teach a children’s dance from our Nutcracker production!

Maple Conservatory Includes ABT’s National Training Curriculum in Conservatory Program

Maple Conservatory of Dance is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough, eight-level program that combines high-quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development.

The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels. Primary through level 7 will be taught by ABT® Certified Teacher, Charles Maple, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 7 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
