Professional Dance Division (Ages 12-20)
The Professional Dance Division program is designed for the most serious dance students. This rigorous program is designed for students who seek to enter dance as a profession upon graduation from high school and for other students who wish to further their dance training and education at the most competitive and selective university dance programs. We seek students who are committed to pursuing a profession in dance and have the physical stamina to train, dance and rehearse for approximately 18 to 22 hours per week. Dancers selected for this rigorous program are also members of the Maple Youth Ballet Senior or Junior performing companies.
An audition is required for acceptance into the Professional Dance Division. The minimum age for consideration is 12. For the Maple Youth Ballet Senior Company it is suggested that the dancer have a minimum of seven years of classical ballet training and three years of pointe work for females. For the Maple Youth Ballet Junior Company, it is suggested that the dancer has a minimum of five years of training and more than one full year of pointe work for females.
Note: The Professional Division is at least a one-year committment.
Students must be highly self-motivated and exhibit an advanced level of technical competency and promise for acceptance to this division. Students in the Professional Division are placed in Levels B4 through B1.
Our Maple Youth Ballet Pre-Professional Company
Students in the Professional Dance Division become members of our Maple Youth Ballet Senior or Junior performing companies. As members of the Maple Youth Ballet, dancers perform in:
- Our full-length The Nutcracker winter production in December
- Our full-length spring ballet production in March-April
- Our Spring Student Showcase performance in June
Company members also have additional guest performance opportunities throughout the year.
Scholarships and financial assistance are available based on merit and need.
