Born in Evanston, IL, Christine was trained in ballet, modern, tap & ethnic dance forms with specialized study in jazz dance with Gus Giordano, one of the grandfathers of American Jazz Dance. She’s traveled the U.S. performing on stage, television, industrials and dinner theatre before moving to California. Her performing career is long gone, but has been replaced with giving workshops, guest teaching, choreographing, traveling and working in her Gyrotonic® and Pilates Studio.

Christine Baltes, possesses a California Teaching credential in dance, certification in Pilates from Diane Diefenderfer (Studio du Corps), additional training from Rael Isacowitz (BASI), and Mari Jose Blom (Long Beach Dance Conditioning). She is a Gyrokinesis® and Gyrotonic® pre-trainer, certified in the Pulley Tower, Leg Extension Unit, Jump Stretch Board and Archway of the GYROTONIC® EXPANSION SYSTEM. Christine has participated in specially designed workshops from Ron Fletcher, Lola San Miguel (pilates elder), Lisa Howell (physio therapist-Australia & the ballet blog), and Marika Molnar (director of physical therapy NYC Ballet). She has been involved in dance for most of her life, & in the mind body fitness industry since 1992.

She has trained many dancers who have received scholarships into the Ailey School, Lines program, Ballet Hispanico, Julliard, Hubbard Street summer program, Giordano, and Graham School, while other students have been working in the entertainment industry. Those resumes include Pink, George Michael, KC & the Sunshine Band, Britney Spears, Smokey Robinson Tour, Usher, Brian McKnight, American Music Awards, Academy Awards, National Tours of King & I, Wicked, Cats, Cabaret, Memphis, Fiddler on the Roof, Miss Saigon, Fosse, 42nd Street, Arthur, Fiddler on the Roof, Vegas shows, (Jubilee, Peep Show, Crazy Girls), Rent the movie, and the list goes on & on.

Her teaching career spans over 40 years with faculty positions that include the new ABT Gillespie School in Orange County, Orange County School of the Arts, University of California, Irvine, Chapman University, California State University Long Beach, Orange Coast College, Irvine Valley College, Santa Ana College, and more. She has guest taught for Lou Conte Dance Center, Gus Giordano Dance Center, to mention a few. Her once dance company, Jazz Spectrum Dance Company performed in many dance festivals, including the Jazz Dance World Congress, and Jazz Dance LA, among others.

Christine’s choreography is featured, not only in her jazz classes, but also reflects in her Gyrotonic for Dancers class, while at the same time, maintaining the integrity of Gyrotonic®. Many Gyrotonic insturctors share her enthusiasm for this class. Additionally, she has created the GAITway to a Dancers Movement, Pilates & Beyond, and the fun, Chair ala Mode (Wunda Chair) workshop/class.
