Featuring original choreography by Artistic Director Charles Maple, our Nutcracker, A New Beginning… production has been designed this year for all audiences & ages featuring a selection of favorite highlights from the much beloved Nutcracker story.

From the moment the lights dim, you will be transported to a magical place filled with dancing snowflakes, a dashing prince, and Tchaikovsky's majestic score based on one of the world's most beloved ballets.

Share the tradition of fantasy as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Nutcracker Prince and Clara ignite the imagination of your princes and princesses of all ages. Watch as this unique Orange County experience unfolds, showcasing exceptional & talented dancers from across the Southland!

"Pre-Curtain" Nutcracker Introduction
Lorin Johnson, Assist. Professor, Dance Dept., California State Univ., Long Beach

Learn about the origins of the Nutcracker from a leading dance expert and former member of American Ballet Theatre and San Francisco Ballet. At the start of each performance, Lorin will share with audience members a fascinating look back at the story line and history of the Nutcracker. Read a brief history of the Nutcracker

On-Stage Ballet Workshop For Young Audiences (Saturday 2pm matinee only)
"Miss" Pili Doheny, Assist. Director, Maple Conservatory's Pre-Ballet Program

Children ages 4-8 are invited to free, fun-filled ballet workshop led by "Miss" Pili Doheny, Assistant Director of Maple Conservatory's Pre-Ballet Program. This 20-minute workshop will be held immediately following our Saturday matinee performance. Miss Pili will lead the children through some ballet stretches and teach a children's dance from our Nutcracker production! Dancers from our Nutcracker production will also be there in costume to sign autographs and pose for photos with the children.
